Government education and health departments have standards and recommendations in place to ensure all children are provided the opportunity to participate in physical education literacy sessions, but these are rarely met due to the absence of specialist PE instructors in many of our communities. Children need the value and habit of lifelong physical activity to be instilled in them from an early age.
They deserve meaningful physical education literacy sessions that introduce a variety of movement experiences which set the foundation for lifelong physical activity and body fitness. This is important from a health, education, spiritual and social perspective and as a contributor to body immunity.
Physical education creates a platform for delivery of other social services important for self - preservation. If children experience positive and fun physical education sessions more frequently during early years, there seems a greater likely hood that they may live longer.
As instructors, we engage children and encourage them to value and enjoy physical education sessions. This in turn helps them see the connection between the benefits of participating in physical activity and the positive impact this has on their lives.
